REYNOLDS Sun 02/03/2008 Houston Chronicle, Section B, Page , 4 Star Edition THOMAS TRUXTON REYNOLDS, SR., affectionately known as "Honey" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, went to his heavenly home on January 31, 2008. Reynolds, a native Houstonian, was born to Reverend T.T. Reynolds and Nina Williams Reynolds on September 17, 1923. He graduated from Aldine High School in 1941. Reynolds married Thelma Campbell of Houston on February 28, 1942, and they remained happily married for nearly sixty-six years. They have four children: Tommy Reynolds and wife, Laverne; Larry Reynolds and wife, Carol; Gail Reynolds Gallien and husband, Jim; Craig Reynolds and wife, Josey. Shortly after graduating from high school, Reynolds entered the United States Army. During World War II he served with the 22nd Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division, landing on Utah Beach in Normandy. He served with distinction on the front lines in such key European campaign events as the break out at St. Lo, the liberation of Paris, the Battle of the Huertgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Houston. He was the founder and owner of Reynolds Screen and Iron, a steel fabricating company that he began in 1960. Following his retirement in 1986, he enjoyed traveling, following Houston Astro baseball, playing golf, and spending time with his family. Reynolds had a strong faith in Christ and deep commitment to the church. He and his family joined Glenn Rose Baptist Church in north Houston shortly after the church began. He served the church as a deacon, treasurer, and men's leader. At the time of his death he was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church. In addition to being survived by his wife and four children, he is survived by one sister: Lolita O'Neal. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Renee Mai, Rhonda Hargrove, Christi Myhill, Richard Reynolds, Gay Lynn Bryan, Penney Sorrells, David Sorrells, Ashlyn Reynolds, Kyle Reynolds, Reagan Reynolds. In addition, fifteen great-grandchildren survive him. The family will be at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, February 4, 11:30 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at Champion Forest Baptist Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline, on Monday, February 4, 1:00 p.m. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the building fund of Champion Forest Baptist Church.
