BUSALACCHI Doris Wallingford Gates Busalacchi, 91 Beloved mother, grandmother and teacher Doris Wallingford Gates Busalacchi, 91, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2007 in Alamogordo. She was the daughter of Robert Lee Wallingford and Flossie Maude Abercrombie. Doris was a third generation of Texas teachers and both of her children are fourth generation Texas teachers. She taught school for over thirty years. She taught at Ysleta Grammar School, Zavala, Austin High School, and the American School in Japan. Her teaching career included the fourth grade, seventh grade, and eighth grade. However, most of her years of teaching were at Austin High School where she taught Spanish, history, and government. Doris came to El Paso in 1928 and attended Crockett, and Austin High School. Her degrees were from the College of Mines and Metallurgy and Texas Western College. She was always an avid student of history and government. She was a member of Phi Alpha Theta Historical Society and a charter member of the El Paso Historical Society. A good education and the desire for knowledge and learning were of paramount importance in her life. Her special interests were writing, drama, history, government, language, traveling to many areas, research and spiritual pursuits. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was always grateful for her many blessings, her family, friends, students and an interesting and healthy long life. "On this my final journey I am anticipating being with the Lord and with those I love who have gone on before. Do not be sad at my leaving - My life has been full a long, adventuresome, and interesting one. I have had so much to be thankful for. I have loved my family, friends, and students. I have enjoyed the wonderful beauties of nature, teaching, writing, traveling, drama, and learning. Life has been a great adventure. I am grateful for being a part of God s beautiful creation - only believe - only believe. Until we meet again God be with you!" Doris is survived by her daughter, Mary Gates; son, Jim Busalacchi and wife Suzy; grandsons, John Busalacchi and wife Amelia and Jason Cummings and wife Jenna and their sons, Jonathan, Zachary and Samuel, and Doctors, Jimmy and Amy Wallingford and their daughter, Abigail. Memorial Service for family and friends and students will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Trinity First United Methodist Church at 801 N. Mesa in downtown El Paso.
