Frank Hamer pays fine, (incident April 17, 1913) In Bryan Daily News: "Hamer pleads guilty: pays fine and costs for assaulting reporters. Frank Hamer, former special officer under the Rice administration, paid $88.70 for beating up two reporters and putting a scar on the face of one of them. Though his case was not set until June 23, he appeared in the County Court at Law Tuesday and asked permission to plead guilty. On a charge of aggrevated assault he paid a fine of $25 and costs of $27.90. A charge of aggrevated assault, preferred by H. C Waters, brother of G. B. Walters, was reduced by the district attorney to simple assault. On this charge Hamer paid a $5 fine and costs of $30.80, the total fines and costs amounting to $88.70. His assault on the Waters brothers occurred April 17--Houston Chronicle. He paid a fine of $25 and costs of $27.90. |
