alph Earl Ethridge, Sr. passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2014. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, where he reached the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Ethridge was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church, worshiping at Walnut Grove in Midfield and most recently at Mountain Chapel in Vestavia Hills. He retired from Pullman Standard and The Birmingham Water Works.

Mr. Ethridge was preceded in death by his parents William I. Ethridge, Sr. and Verna B. Ethridge; his sister Jane Ethridge and his brothers William Ethridge and CurtisEthridge. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Gloria A. Ethridge ; daughters Patsy Vacarella, Glenda Nagrodzki (Paul) and Gloria Whisenhunt (Jim); sons: AlexEthridge and Ralph Ethridge(Beth) and by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel.
