Memorial Obituary of Mike Ogg
Mar 10, 2008, 08:29

Mike Ogg, began his career in education as principal at Lake Highlands High School and then went on to become the principal at Gladewater High School, A&M Consolidated High School and Gilmer High School. It was in Gilmer, Texas where he became the superintendent. After 39 years, he retired from education as the principal of Montgomery Junior High School.

Dr. Bob Smith former Superintendent of Mongomery ISD worked many years with Mike Ogg said, "he loved young people and they loved him". Mike set an example for "school people" that deserves to be remembered, emulated and not forgotten, he made a great difference in many lives by believing that "everyone matters".

Roy Knight Superintendent of Lufkin ISD said, "Mike was profoundly influential in my career as an educator. His mentorship to me was to show that kids always come first. I saw him pay for kids means out of his own pocket, chauffer kids to Texas A&M for college days, hug their neck and discipline them all in the same day. I learned from him to say I'll do whatever it takes for you to help you be successful. Roy Knight goes on to say, "I learned from Mike Ogg that it is o.k. to tell kids that you loved them. Mike Ogg was a great school man. He was a patriot and leader of our National Guard. General Ogg more importantly was a wonderful influence in the lives of children. He will be missed but his legancy will continue for generations through his miracles with kids". - js - webmaster@texasisd.com
