Have you checked the Padgett's of Burke/Bulloch Counties in Georgia\ My wife's great grandmother was Josephine Lovie Padgett of Clay County, FL who married Francis Marion Crews, son of Asbury Crews and Elvira Prevatt. Josephine's parents were William Padgett, b. 1816 Bulloch County and Julia Ann Prescott. William's parents were Elisha Padgett (b. 1795 in SC, m. 1816 in Bulloch County, GA d. 1869 in Clay County, FL) and Lavinia Bennett, daughter of James Bennett of Robeson County, NC who moved to Bulloch County after receiving a Revolutionary War land grant. Elisha Padgett settled the estate of Elijah Padgett in Emanuel County, GA, the apparant same Elijah Padgett who served jury duty in Burke County in 1796. Further more, another set of my wife's great grandparents were William Daniel Malphurs and Jane Delilah Fowler of Clay County, FL. When I say Clay County, I mean centered around Long Branch Baptist Church and reaching into Bradford County (Starke, Green Cove Springs, Campville, etc.). donmilford@@aol.com |
