Wanda Lavelle Grimes Wallingford 77, of Baytown Texas went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2009. Wanda was born on May 15, 1931 in Colmesneil, Texas to Lester and Beatrice (Sanders) Grimes. Wanda was a lifelong member of Wooster Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas. She and her husband Maurice were married there on February 2, 1948, starting a family tradition that continued with the marriage of both daughters and grandson. Wanda retired from Goose Creek ISD where she worked as a cafeteria manager for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her family. Wanda and her family fell in love with Hawaii in December 1960 during a stop-over on their way to a year and a half stay in Australia. For the next three decades, the Kona Tiki on Hawaii's Big Island became a home away from home for Wanda and Maurice. Their other joy was the many trips, both long and short, in Maurice's pride and joy, an Allegro Bay Motorcoach. Wanda was a very caring and strong willed woman who will be missed by all who knew her.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents Lester and Beatrice Grimes, loving husband of 54 years Maurice Wallingford, aunt and uncle Lessie and H.B. Broom, uncle and aunt Rueben and Helen Grimes, uncle and aunt Willie and Lois Grimes, aunt and uncle Truman and Burlan Boyett, aunt and uncle Lela and Cameron Futch, father and mother -in-law A.M. and Suzie Wallingford, brother and sister-in-law Lee and Earlene Wallingford, brother-in-law Clyde Wallingford, brother-in-law M.O. Wallingford and wife Laverne, and sister-in-law Velma Loupe and husband C.A.. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Troha and husband Glen, daughter Libby Laubach and husband Steve, grandson David Troha and wife Amy, granddaughter Haley Bechtolt, granddaughter Megan Ontiveras and husband Erik, uncle and aunt Herman and Irene Sanders, aunt and uncle Bernice and Anson Cox, brother-in-law George Wallingford and wife Janelle, brother-in-law Lamar Wallingford and wife Emmie, brother-in-law Arthur Wallingford and wife Diane, running buddy Beverly Wilson and dogs; Blossom, Lola, Gracie, and many other relatives and friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 5-7pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 10 am at the Sterling-White Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Mack Jones officiating. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be grandsons David Troha and Erik Ontiveras, son-in-laws Glen Troha and Steve Laubach, and neighbors Sonny Ellisor and Mark Selman.
