Shared note

From Arthur Moore, Jr, in September 2008:

I remember Katy and Luther Mason well. He was also from Fields Store. When I was a boy in the 40's and 50's, they had a country store and filling station on the northeast corner of the intersection of Hwy. 6 and FM 2 between Hempstead and Navasota. Their residence joined the back of the store. My mother was from Navasota and our family often went to Navasota for one reason or another. On the way back we would usually stop and visit the Masons. Their store was rather old fashioned, even in comparison with the stores in Hempstead. They had one child, Annie Katherine, who was grown and married, and living in Houston. Her husband was Kenneth Church. The Church's had a son named Gary. I don't recall if they had other children. I don't recall ever meeting Annie Katherine and her family. The Mason's did business and went to church in Navasota, and moved there when they retired. I understand that they are buried in the Navasota Cemetery.
