Shared note
Highland Memorial Cemetery was opened in 1900 after Stamford was organized in Feb 1900. The earliest known burial was in Oct 1900 with two more in Dec of 1900. There are about 6000 burials with over 250 unmarked and unknown. There is currently a small red block building in the old section that is used to locate graves in the cemetery, with a list of interments, locations & maps. It is always unlocked. NOTE: Stamford is 95% in Jones County, but the Cemetery is in Haskell Co. |
