from http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/~dchamber/maclagan.htm New Zealand Mail 12 Jul 1900 p36d The late Duncan Sinclair Maclagan, whose death is recorded in this issue, was a nephew of the late Mr Hugh Sinclair of Wainui-o-mata, and a cousin of Mr D Sinclair of Palmerston North. He was a clerk in the Land Office in Wellington, but resigned through indifferent health, and was employed for a time on the staff of the old Wellington "Independent" newspaper. He went to the Old Country in 1871, where he had lived a retired life for the most part at Matlock, in Derbyshire. His old acquaintances in this district will be sorry to hear of his demise. |
