W. Buck, Ponsonby, was married to Mr Cecil Owen Hughes, of Ponsonby. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked handsome in a white cloth dress, the long full skirt being edged with white silk velvet, with graduated double box-pleat in front, trimmed with innumerable French knots, Alencon motifs and silk braid, and Paris lace, and ivory satia in pelerine form composed the pretty little bodice. A smart white felt "Dolly Varden" hat, trimmed with long ostrich feathers, tulle, and brown sable fur completed her costume. She also carried a shower bouquet, and wore a pearl star pendant and gold chain, presents of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Misses Frances and Edith Buck, sisters of the bride. Miss Frances Buck wore a very stylish dress of brown chiffon tafteta over glace, the bodice trimmed with Paris lace and pipings, high Empire belt of Burgundy shade of silk velvet, and Romany hat of Burgundy tulle and velvet with long shaded ostrich featherp. Miss Edith Buck wore a pretty creme hopsack costume with pleated skirt, cretne silk . front, and creme tricorne felt hat with ostrich feathers. Both carried shower bouquets of white and pink chrysanthemums and ferns, and wore small black and gold watches attached to bow brooches, gifts of the bridegroom. Mr Cyril Hughes acted as best man, and Mr Sidney Buck as groomsman. After the ceremony, the guests were entertained at the residenca of the bride's parents, when the usual toasts were proposed and duly honoured. Later, Mr and Mrs Hughes left on their honeymoon tour, the bride wearing a hydrangea blue cloth dress, the pleated skirt edged with a band of golden brown silk velvet, and the little coatee trimmed with silk passementerie, the cape sleeves being piped with brown, over under-sleeves of Paris net and Valenciennes lace. A smart little felt hat, trimmed with Pompadour ribbon and tulle, completed this costume. |
