Her obituary was published in the Houston Chronicle in Harris CO, TX. 97 WILLIE MAE WHIDDON, 91, went Home to be with her Lord on June 3, 2008, in Houston, Texas after a long period of poor health. Willie Mae was born January 28, 1917 in Houston, Texas to William Ned Salyer and Montie Agnes Salyer. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Allie Toland Whiddon, after celebrating 56 years of marriage together. Also a sister, Anna Bell Lucas. She is survived by her Niece, Carolyn Phillips and husband, Don Phillips; Great Nephew, Tom Phillips; Great Niece, Cindy David and husband, Joe and their children, Brittany and Cody Davis; Niece, Dorothy Jean Rogge and husband, Ben; Nephew, Billy Whiddon and wife, Dorothy; and Nephew Dr. Jerry Mc Shane and wife, Elaine. Willie Mae was blessed to have numerous other nieces and nephews. Willie Mae was a life- long resident of the Houston Heights and Garden Oaks in Houston, Texas. She was a cherished lifetime member of West 145th Avenue Baptist Church, which has now moved to Oak Forest Baptist Church. For many years, Willie worked side-by-side with Allie at their Exxon Service Station on Ella Boulevard and West 43rd Street as bookkeeper for their business. Willie Mae lived out her remaining years at the Spring Shadows Pines and Parkway Place Nursing Facilitie. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nursing and healthcare staff of Spring Shadows Pines and Parkway Place Nursing Homes and Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving care and kindness during Willie's extended stat at the facilities. The family is grateful for their commitment to her care. Visitation will be Thursday, Jun 5, from 5:00pm to 7:00;m at Waltrip Funeral Home, located at 1415 Campbell Road, in Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be Friday, June 6, 2008 at 2:00pm at Waltrip Funeral Home. Internment to follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road. Dr. Richard Walters, Pastor of Oak Forest Baptist Church, will be officiating. |
