Albert and Beryl Andersen-Jarlov's family has the story that Hans Christian Anderson was teased throughout his growing up about his name. When he married Sofie, he changed his last name to include the name of the Danish town that she was from - Jarlov. While the name for his family remains Andersen-Jarlov, most go by Jarlov in ordinary dealings, using the full name only for legal documents. |

Anders Lund Jarløv in a letter in March 2010 states that the name Jarløv was introduced officially in 1908 by his grand father Hans Christian Andersen (born the 29th of July 1858 in the town "Errindlev" and died in northern Zealand 1931). Errindlev was according to Hans Christian, Sr. pronounced 'Jarandalev' and prior to that 'Jarløv'. The time period was about 1000 A.D. Hans Christian was an eager researcher in languages. His linguistic activities lead him to be president of the congregation of the Danish "IDO", an artificial language, which eventually had little or no importance compared to "Esperanto". https://translate.google.com/#da/en/Formanden%20takkede%20hr.%20%20og%20SAKSO-gruppen%20for%20den%20h%C3%ADstoriske%0Aledning%2C%20deltagerne%20havde%20f%C3%A4et%20i%20dagens%20lab.%20%0A%0AP%20.%20Chr.%20Nielsen%20%0A%0AAf%20litteratur%20om%20sand-flugten%20og%20Tisvilde%20Hegn%20kan%20anf%C5%93res%3A%20%0A%0A1902%20B%2C%20S.%20196-545.%20%0AJehe.%20Helms%3A%20Tale%20ved%20afsleringen%20af%20mindesten%20for%20Forstraad%20Bang%20p%C3%A4%20Bengs%C3%A1gg%20%0A%0A1%20Tisvilde%20Hegn%2C%20gang.%201%20Dansk%20%201921%2C%20S.%20342%2F47%20%0AEdv.%20Holm%3A%20%C3%B6andflugtens%20Daempn.in._fg%20i%20Tisvilde-%C3%AEzgnen%2C%20Fra.%20F%C5%95ederiksborg%20Amt%2C%201907.%20%0A%0AV.%20Milthers%3A%20NoI%E2%80%98dSj%3A2lland.s%20C-vologi%2C%20D.g.U.%2C%20V.%20Bk.%2C%20%27nr.%203%2C%201955.%20%0A%0AP.%20Chr.%20Nielsen%3A%20Sandflugtens%20og%20Tisvilde%20Hegns%20historie%2C%20Skovbrugstidende%201957%20%0A%0AS.%2014%3F-1.58.%20Ogs%C3%A4%20%C3%9F%C3%A7eng.%20i%20%20Journalen%201960.%20%0AOlrik%3A%20Tisvilde%20Egnen%20%C3%AD%20gamle-%3A%20%C3%8D%C3%ACage.%20Fra%20Frederiksborg%20Amt%2C%201906.%20%0AOlrik%3A%20%27fisvllde%20og%20Omegn%2C%201920.%20%0A%0A.-%20Olsen%3A%20Kronborg%20vester%20Birk%2C%201961.%20%0A%0APedersen%3A%20Kirken%20i%20Tibirke%2C%201905.%20%0A%0ASAKSO%E2%80%99S%20Statusrapport%20196%27%3F%2C%20der%20omtales%20foran%2C%20henviser%27%20yder%C3%AEigere%20til%20en%20del%20litte-%0A%0Aratur%20om%20egnen.%20- The site above (Danish translation) has the date for the name change as being 9 October 1908. |
