His tombstone refers to birth in 1816, but more sources seem to support 1820. In 1899 he applied for a Confederate pension and recorded himself as being 79 years old. In the 1900 Waller County, Texas census he shows as being 79, and born in July 1820. |

In the 1880 Waller County Productions of Agriculture report, William Rogerson was shown as owning his own property. He had 18 acres of tilled land, another 1/2 acre of permanent pasture or orchard and 140 acres of woodland. His land was valued at $600 with another $30 worth of equipment and machinery. His livestock was valued at $181 and he had spent $15 in the previous year on repairs or building. His production was valued at $87 (not clearly written). He had 5 milk cows and 7 other cattle. There were 5 calves during the year. He sold two cattle in the year. He made about 70 pounds of butter. He had 9 swine and 19 barnyard poultry which produced about 40 dozen eggs. He planted 10 acres of Indian corn that produced 50 bushels. He had 8 acres of cotton that produced 1 bale. He had 1/4 acre of peach trees – 20 trees. They produced 10 bushels of peaches. His orchard produced about $5 of produce in the year. He cut 15 cords of wood in the year, valued at $15. |
