Shared note
|
According to his birth certificate from the State of New York, he was named Albert W. White at birth. When given to the New York Foundling Home his mother told them that his name was Edward. The nuns at the Catholic school gave him the name "Jerry" because he was such a hell-raiser and it was during the time just after the First World War. His military record with the Texas National Guard listed him as Edward J. White, however, his military records with the United States Marine Corps lists him as Jerry "Ed" White. His death certificate issued by the State of Texas shows him as Jerry Edward White as this is the name best known to his family. |
