Excerpt of letter from Vicky Alexander to Cuffie Tunnington, undated. You must remember that my connection with Oliver Prouse, Chris, was exactly 50 years ago so that my recollection is somewhat hazy. Percy Pattrick form I worked had been, about the time of my arrival in Wgtn, appointed liquidator of a company called R. Harding & Co, Ltd. There was already a Receiver in command. R. H & Co. was Oliver P’s outfit and Pattrick had requested his help in unravelling some of the mess. As I remember it Percy never got paid because there wasn’t enough money to satisfy the debenture holder for whom Receiver was acting. I can remember O.P. quite well. He was a fascinating rogue, rather swarthy in appearance & with a ready smile. He had obtained moneys from a finance coy. on bogus H.P. agreements. At least that is what I can rememb er. I do well remember Percy P. saying to me that O.P. shd be in gaol. I don’t think he was ever charged with any crime & got away with the misdeeds. What happened to him eventually I have no idea. He seemed to me to be about 50 years of age at the time but I could be wrong. |
