Sharon was the first child of Arvid R. Hand and Juanita "Georgie" Wiggins Hand. At a very young age, Sharon was stricken with polio. It left her with a limp in one foot which she refused to let hold her back. She became an accomplished twirler in the HHS marching band and also an athlete few could match. Sharon graduated from Hempstead High School, Class of 1965. She retired in 2001 after 35 years with the Internal Revenue Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration. During those years she also excelled at being a devoted mother to her only child Robert Derrell Finch. She is preceded in death by her father, her brother Arvid and her sister Candy. Left to cherish her memory are her mother Juanita Wiggins Hand, her son Derrell Finch with his wife Melissa and their children: Sharon's grandchildren, London (6), Audrey (4) "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." |
