Shared note
|
Lewis Day, a tailor by trade, was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, in the year 1997 and worked at his trade in Richmond, Petersburg, Raleigh and other towns along the way, and came to the settlement of Sherills Ford in the year 1799, where he had a half-brother living named James Holdclaw. His first work after arriving in the settlement was to make a suite (sic) of Broadcloth clothes for Jonathan Long to wear to Maryland after his people. The late William Long who died at an advanced age many years ago was one of the number being a boy seven years of age..." wrote W. A. Day.
