He had 30 acres of tilled land, 50 acres of woodland and another 30 acres of other unimproved, including “old fields” not growing weeds. His land was valued at $500, and his farming machinery at $30. He had $100 worth of livestock. He had spent $50 in the previous year for repairs or new buildings. He had about $160 of farm production during the year. He had 3 horses, 10 swine and 10 farmyard poultry. He planted 4 acres of Indian corn that produced 60 bushels. He planted 2 acres of cotton that produced 1 bale. He produced 20 bushels of sweet potatoes. He had 20 peach trees. He cut 20 cords of wood, worth $20. |
