Jacksonville Daily Progress JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Dolores Vanderstay Thurman, age 86, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, with Rev. Joel McMahon and Dr. Jack Albright officiating. Burial will be held at Still Waters Memorial Gardens, Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Mrs. Thurman passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 in Tyler. She was born February 6, 1926 in Houston. Mrs. Thurman was an executive secretary in the oil industry, worked for City Service Oil Company in Houston, a managerial secretary in Kansas City, MO, and Tyler, a legal secretary for Michael Gross in Tyler, and was a member of the Alpha & Omega Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. She is preceded in death by her first husband A.B. Lawrence, Sr., and parents Otto R. and Addie Vanderstay. Survivors include her husband Gerald R. Thurman of Jacksonville; sons A.B. Lawrence and wife Beth of Humble; Cecil Lawrence and wife Nita of Orange; Ray Thurman and wife Janet of San Antonio; daughter Terry Lindsey and husband Ronny of Jacksonville; brother Randy Vanderstay of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Grandsons will serve pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. |
