Averil Jarlov remembers her mother Beryl Taylor Jarlov saying that she had visited her when she (Beryl) was a child. She remembers her arm being propped up, and had the understanding that she had died of breast cancer. This was confirmed by Lindis Taylor in 2009 when visiting with him. |

A very large number of children and their parents and friends were present, in fact, during the earlier part the evening the hall was too crowded for dancing with any degree of comfort. However, as all were in good humour, and bent on enjoyment, the evening passed in a merry and extremely pleasant manner. The hall was prettily decorated, and the music by Adama' band was excellent. There were many pretty and striking costumes worn by the youthful dancers, and amongst the more noticeable were : — Miss Lilian Devore, who looked very pretty as a Chrysanthemum ; Miss — Devore made a charming Daißy; Miss Wingfield looked striking as a Sunflower; Miss Haven, Kate Greenaway costume ; the Misses Hudson wore very pretty costumes, one appearing as Sappo, another as Romp, and a third as a skirt dancer; Misses Hanna looked charming in pretty evening- dresses ; Miss Metcalfe was a dainty figure as White and Gold China ; her sister, Forget-me-not ; Miss — Greenhough looked a pretty Pink Rose ; Miss Mabel Douglas, Tambourine Girl ; Miss Nellie Douglas, becoming blue velvet evening dress ; Miss Katie Ralph, pretty evening dress; Miss Newell, Primrose; Miss Ivy Crawford looked lovely in a beautiful dress of blue satin ; Misses Evelyn and Olive Crawford, dainty pink frocks ; Miss Gladys Masefield looked extremely well as Titania ; Miss Bach, Venus ; Miss Josephine Tye looked exceedingly pretty as Baby ; Miss George, Basket of Flowers ; Miss" Hughes, Queen of the May ; Miss Bertha Devore and Miss Braithwaite looked very well as Two Little Girls in Blue ; Miss Morrin, dainty creme gown ; Miss Brett, very pretty creme gown ; Miss Ada Owen looked well as a Lamp-shade ; Miss Corley, blue evening dress , Miss Williams, Eastern Girl; Miss Preece, Romp ; Miss Leighton, Starlight ; Miss 1 Cousins, Italian Peasant ; Miss Butters, i Shamrock; Miss L Butters, Queen of I Hearts; Miss Windsor, white evening dress ; Miss Freda Langsford, pink evening dress.
